Abstract: | The owners of Balázs-Diák Trading and Publishing Kft have been dealing with trading
and developing of teaching materials for 17 years. They had realized the modernization
processes in the teaching sphere and also the lack of appropriate quality and quantity of
the teaching materials for the existing devices of informatics therefore they developed the
iDoctum interactive teaching package that wishes to fill this gap.
The iDoctum interactive teaching package provides complete teaching materials within
10 subjects and for more than 100 lessons together with videos, animations, 3D images,
colourful pictures, graphs and diagrams. The teaching material also includes a detailed
methodical guide that helps teachers to fill the teaching material in to their lessons.
The appearance of new technical instruments in teaching institutions requires a completely
new pedagogical conception and professional approach, methodological preparation from
the participants of teaching. However, the pedagogues don’t dispose with such informatical
knowledge that would help them utilize the pedagogical possibilities of the digital tables.
Therefore there was a need of such digital teaching material that would help teachers
liven up the lessons and the attention or interest of the students by previously prepared
animations and interactive tasks.
The interactive package doesn’t provide any pictures or texts scanned from textbooks but
processes that can be stopped and adjusted what also contributes to better understanding
of the teaching material. It gives an opportunity for children of different skills to build the
teaching material for certain subject step by step, supporting the integrated teaching.
Thanks to accurate models, the physical part of the teaching material can be used for
specific experiments and measurements so it may also be used by schools that have lower
level of equipment. This helps them reach competitive knowledge.
The teaching material includes more hundreds legally collected pictures according to
themes. Thanks to visual appearance, there are several sense organs involved in the
process of teaching at the same time, therefore the knowledge is better fixated and the
attention of the students is easier awoken as well.
At working with the teaching material it is important for students to work with many sources of
pictures (e. g. the internal construction of a medieval cloister, fight scenes, symmetries from
our everyday life) in order to learn the methods of picture analysis (e. g. the circumstances
of the origin of pictures, 3D image, the meaning of symbols). This helps to improve their
communicative and textual ability.
With the interactive teaching material it is possible to demonstrate more graphs at the
same time what is not realizable with any other teaching instrument. So the information can
be analysed and understood at the same time as well and the students can also deduce
consequences between for example the Earth’s production capability and the population
density. On the other hand the maps help improve their topographical knowledge.

IB&M Institute for Education and Media at
GPI Society for Pedagogy and Information
The themes are constructed on one another and can be equally used in elementary schools
and high schools. The specific theme (e. g. the human body) completely sums up the
teaching material and extends it by animations and interactive tasks by witch the acquired
knowledge can be tested immediately. The prepared teaching material doesn’t include any
concrete order of teaching – leaving the choice to the teachers – but requirements for
outline course of study. Neither it is depended on textbooks so it can be used with books
from any publishers, thus the teachers don’t have to abandon their curriculum but can
restore their lessons.
The printable methodical guide determines what competence is developed when using the
teaching material and shows where can be found the questions for leaving examination
within the requirements of certain subject.
The i-Doctum interactive teaching material does not require any special software for
the installation procedure in comparison to many other teaching materials. It can be
run right from the computer. It doesn’t demand any special knowledge of informatics;
its use is very simple. Moreover, the orientation in the tools becomes even easier with
the help of the clue.
The teaching material can be used with any type of interactive table, extending the
possibilities of the table’s software and it can be also further developed individually by the
teachers. The adjusted material can be saved and later used again, more times.
The i-Doctum interactive teaching program was developed by Hungarian practised specialist
pedagogues for Hungarian curriculum; it’s not an adaptation of some foreign teaching
material. Most of its authors teach in Fazekas Mihaly Grammar School in the capital city
and are also notable authors of textbooks. Both beginner and practised pedagogues can
simply use it and find a great assistance in it as it gives innovative information.
The application of the interactive teaching material:
This teaching material was bought and is still successfully used by more than 400 schools
only in the first year of its emergence. Many schools began to use interactive tables and
digital tools due to it.
The many positive responses show that the children’s interest towards the less interesting
subjects has grown and now they even like examining their knowledge at the table through
its interactive tasks as they get an immediate feedback. Through this feedback the teachers
will know which spheres within the certain subject need to be better understood by the
students. Thanks to this it is also adequate for teaching children of unfavourable situation.
The innovation of the interactive teaching material:
This interactive teaching material fills the gap in the teaching market. Though textbook
publishers publish digital contents to their textbooks in series, currently there’s no such
summarizing edition, aside of the interactive teaching material, which could completely and
according to the thematic circles elaborate the information from the subjects. Because it
does not depend neither on the type of the table nor on the textbooks it can be used in any
type of schools and it provides a useful assistance at every teaching or educational work. | Inhalt: | Biology – The human body and its operation:
This set of transparencies demonstrates the operation of human body in an expressive, picturesque way. When creating it, we emphasized to display the importance of hygiene and healthy nourishment. These transparencies also contain some playful activities, for example, students may count out the percentage of water in the body by giving the person’s weight and height. When learning about the human body it is very important to display its inside lifelike and realistic. We use real radiographs, so thus students could use their knowledge in everyday life and could understand and analyze their own potential radiographs. We also emphasized to explain how is the functioning of organs hanging together, why is it important to drink an adequate amount of liquid, why is it so important to move
regularly and what are the risks of smoking.
Mat hematics – Geometric transformations:
This set of transparencies demonstrates geometric transformations on a high level and
requires a lot of manipulation from students’ side. What we chose for underlying this topic is
the natural and artificial environment and the garner of man-made motifs and ornamentation.
Selected illustrations demonstrate mainly Hungarian cultural values.
Selected illustrations are lovely and precise; teachers do not have to draw any difficult
graphics in their spare time. The use of this set results more effective teaching within a
shorter time. A further advantage of the set is interactivity, what makes the understanding
of difficult mathematic relations more obvious.
The set includes games, printable activity sheets and methodology guide for teachers.
Physics – Mechanics:
This set of transparencies tenders an ideal solution for schools poorly equipped with experimental tools. In addition, buying this transparency set, schools can save a lot of money as they do not have to buy each tool separately. It is also long-lasting and does not brake down in the most important moment. All what is needed is a computer. For example, when demonstrating uniform linear movement, students can observe the relationship between the path and time of motion of a wagon; they can compare the motion of two wagons with different speed. There is an option to set the speed of wagons and to choose between measuring path/time or time/path coherency. When demonstrating uniform circular motion, students can observe the motion of an object in a circle. There is an option to set radius, speed and direction of the motion and to measure period and rev.
Geography – Geography of Africa part I, Georaphy tipical lands part I:
This set of transparencies demonstrates the regional geography of distant continents,
focusing mainly on Africa. The set works up the birth of the continent, its economy and
nature with a lot of maps, graphs and animations. When teaching geography, it is very
important to point out the coherence between economy and society. While old maps hanging on the wall made this effort impossible, this transparency set helps every teacher to point out the coherences and the attached picture material helps every student to memorize the information.
Geography II – Geography of nature – Atmosphere:
Why is earth warmer than air? Why is the warmest along the equator?
What is greenhouse effect? It is very difficult to understand and to process to the children these categories without illustration and animation. The curriculum makes sightlier the lesson with playful exercises, images, 3-D elements and by the help of thermometer.
Environments:
Children get to know the world around them in a playful way. With the help of the nice
pictures we can bring nature and its animals closer to the students of the junior primary
school. They learn to put them into system, get familiar with similarities and differences.
The interactive exercises, playfulness and the use of a lot of pictures help the fixing of the
curriculum and it is also a lot more interesting for the children.
Chemistry:
This set of transparencies demonstrates the invisible atomic world and construes the
rudiments of atomic structure, chemical bonds and molecules. Animation helps students to
imagine the processes weltering in the atomic world. Homework tasks contain interactive
exercises, good for deepen students’ knowledge.
History:
The history curriculum elaborates the events of the middle ages, the details of a person’s
life, e.g. their dressing and customs with colourful, aesthetic graphics. The pictures bring
the people of ancient times closer to the students as they can see their hairstyle, clothes,
gestures. They can almost be in the shoes of these people lived in the past, and history
comes close to them. Besides the illustrations of people and their lives there are maps,
pictures of buildings, collection of ideas, photos of historical relics.
Foreign language – German – beginner:
It is hard to develop new device that can compete with the modern books and worksheets.
We chose the topics of the interactive curriculum to match the requirements of the language
exam system, and deepen the knowledge playfully through interactive games. We elaborate
the topics through the life of a family and highlight the practical events that can happen in
life (e.g. filling in a form, at the doctor’s) on a daily basis. Joining the EU provides the opportunity to travel freely and have jobs in other countries. Steady language knowledge is indispensable, but the interactive curriculum helps us to reach this aim.
Foreign language – English – beginner:
Nowadays, it is hard to develop a tool for language teaching which copes with modern course books, activity books and worksheets. We chose the topics of this interactive material according to requirements needed to take an English state exam. We process the topics through the life of a family, concentrating mainly on ordinary situations which can happen to each of us (filling up a form, asking for medical help etc.)
After adjoined to the Europian Union, learning a language became more important than ever before as the labor markets are open for us. The key to a successful career in abroad is the knowledge of the language. We help you to acquire it. | Retrieval |
