| Abstract: | PEGI Online is an addition to the classic PEGI system (Pan European Game Information: www.pegi.info), a well established system that helps parents all over Europe decide which games are suitable for their children and which aren’t, with help of age rating logos and content descriptors on the packaging of videogames.Supported by the European Commission, PEGI Online is a labelling system for websites giving access to online gaming. Upon joining PEGI Online, companies must sign up to a PEGI Online Safety Code, thus indicating that they manage the online gaming features of their products in a responsible manner. In return they receive a license to use a registered PEGI Online label as a “seal of quality”. The PEGI Online label underlines the dedication to minor protection in a company’s policy regarding online gaming. It indicates membership of a network of companies that comply with the requirements of PEGI Online. The main provisions include:· Age-rated game content only· Appropriate reporting mechanisms· Removal of inappropriate content· A coherent privacy policy· Community standards for online subscribers· A responsible advertisement policyThe PEGI Online label on a website is hyperlinked to the public PEGI Online website, www.pegionline.eu. This way parents can immediately go to a place where they can read all about online gaming, the specific risks attached to it, and the PEGI Online system. |
| Inhalt: | PEGI Online ist eine Ergänzung zum klassischen PEGI System (PEGI = Pan European Game Information) und dient dazu, Online-Spiele so zu kennzeichnen, dass Kinder altersgerechte Spiele finden und für unpassenden geschützt werden. Online-Spiele werden nach verschiedenen Kriterien wie z.B.
