| Abstract: | In 2008, Hungary institutionalized the national multi-layer tourism destination management system including local, area, regional and national levels.
An extremely heterogeneous target group (destination manager, local government, entrepreneurs, NGOs and governmental organizations) were to be provided a cost-effective and relatively brief opportunity to pick up and master the basic knowledge and special approach required for achieving success in the new TDM environment.
An effective solution was an adaptive, simulated e-learning course, ordered by Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development, Department for Tourism. The adaptive nature of this product facilitated an early customisation to user level, skills and relevant destination type. |
| Inhalt: | In this simulation course, the user is to establish and operate a Tourism Destination Management (TDM) organisation in harmony with external and internal demands. The user has to make several decisions during the course that have influence not only on result indicators, but on the storyline itself.
Due to the simplified nature of the story, users receive an organic image of TDM systems operation in the end; which helps them apply practical knowledge gathered in the long run. |
